enPORTAL grows rapidly and optimises its B2B online portal with new functions

Online-Energiebeschaffung steigt weiter an. Permanent gemanagtes Energievolumen bei enPORTAL steigt auf 16 TWh
  • The portal operator achieves around 35 percent more new customers and a managed energy volume of 16 terawatt hours
  • B2B online portal with new design and innovative structure
  • New service: Detailed market evaluations for suppliers

Hamburg, 28 March 2019. The portal operator enPORTAL can look back on a successful 2018 financial year with enormous growth: around 35 percent more new customers from various industries, including thyssenkrupp Materials Services, used the cloud-based marketplace to procure electricity and gas. This caused the permanently managed energy volume in the B2B online portal to increase to around 16 terawatt hours. enPORTAL is investing in a new design in 2019 and is planning expanded functions for its customers that will optimise the entire process around energy procurement and data management. A new service for the 620 energy supply companies currently on the portal will soon enable detailed market evaluations and sales successes.

Positive balance sheet 2018 with large customer growth

enPORTAL recorded a successful business year in 2018, as announced by the managing directors Clemens Graf von Wedel and Rainer Otto. Customer growth increased by 35 percent compared to the previous year 2017. This positive development is based on the effective work of all company divisions, the increased level of awareness as well as the increased wholesale prices on the stock exchange since spring 2018. "We have gained many new customers who were looking for a more efficient solution for their electricity and gas purchasing and have found this with our B2B online portal as a new tool for them," Rainer Otto is pleased to say. The biggest new addition is thyssenkrupp Materials Services. enPORTAL is thus used by six of the companies listed in the DAX and S-DAX. Other new customers come from the real estate industry, mechanical engineering and healthcare. "Our result is in the double-digit percentage range and, as in previous years, is a guarantee for high investments, steady growth and the expansion of our pioneering role as an energy purchasing platform for industrial and commercial customers," adds Rainer Otto.

Managed energy volume rises to 16 terawatt hours

In the 2018 financial year, the Hamburg-based company achieved a permanently managed energy volume of 16 terawatt hours, distributed across around 100,000 offtake points. This corresponds to growth of around 20 per cent compared to the previous year. This also benefits the 620 suppliers in the portal, who were able to acquire new customers through the increased number of online tenders. Around 15 per cent of all hospitals and clinics in Germany are already using the online portal to procure energy online. "We are pleased that the electricity and gas volumes we manage are continuously increasing and that our position as a B2B portal operator in the market is being further strengthened," says Clemens Graf von Wedel.

enPORTAL with new design and innovative structure

In 2019, the Hamburg-based company plans to introduce numerous innovations to its online portal. In addition to the design, the structure will also be adapted to the latest technology. The goal is to standardise all purchasing and administrative processes even more, to make them more efficient and to map them equally on mobile devices. "The usability will be even clearer and more intuitive. All digital communication between our account managers, customers and suppliers will be simplified," says Clemens Graf von Wedel. The roll-out is planned for the third quarter of 2019.

New service: "enPORTAL market leader" brings transparency for utilities

For the 620 energy supply companies that use enPORTAL to submit bids for online tenders, there will be an exciting new feature in the future: With the so-called "enPORTAL market leader", key account managers will be able to get a detailed overview of what is happening in the market. Their own sales activities as well as optimisation potential can be better recognised through numerous evaluations. The new data service can be booked for a fee in various scopes. The market launch will take place in the second quarter of 2019.
