New info series "Energy Costs 2020" shows cost changes for companies
enPORTAL is publishing a new info series this year called "Energy Costs 2020". The information brochure displays the current and future energy costs that arise for energy-intensive companies from the SME sector. The starting point is the analysis of the EEG levy 2020. 9 pages show in compact form how the EEG levy has changed since 2011 and what price changes energy-intensive SMEs must expect. For this purpose, four ideal types are examined in more detail, which have an annual electricity consumption of 1 GWh, 5 GWh, 12 GWh and 30 GWh. Finally, the portal operator gives four tips for cost reduction. "Energy buyers from a wide range of industries use our online portal for efficient electricity and gas procurement as well as for digital energy data management. We attach great importance to transparency, traceability and knowledge transfer in all processes. With our new info series, we want to give interested energy buyers a quick overview of German market developments around future energy costs," says Clemens Graf von Wedel, founder and owner of enPORTAL.
Future energy costs visible with a click
The B2B online portal is used by well-known companies from industry, commerce, trade, services and the health sector. Around 11 percent of all German hospitals and clinics procure their electricity and gas volumes via the online marketplace with around 620 energy suppliers. All customers of the portal operator have seen the new 2020 EEG levy stored in the portal since it was officially announced. The price differences are immediately visible for all of their own consumption points. This facilitates business planning and avoids a manual evaluation of future energy costs. "Our customers always have their energy costs in view and do not need to worry about relevant market changes. We take over this service so that energy buyers can see at any time how current and future energy costs are made up," says Rainer Otto, founder and owner of enPORTAL.
EEG levy 2020 rises by 5.5 percent
The levy for the promotion of renewable energies, or EEG levy, was published by the transmission system operators on 15 October 2019. It was increased to 6.756 cents per kilowatt hour (ct/kWh) for 2020, or by around 0.351 ct/kWh. This corresponds to a cost change of 5.5 per cent. In 2019, the value was 6.405 ct/kWh. The new value is at the similar level as in 2017 and 2018. From 1 January 2020, companies in Germany will have to expect higher electricity expenses, as the green electricity levy accounts for almost a quarter of the total cost of electricity. "Energy buyers only have real influence on the pure energy price. Those who take advantage of the great competition in the energy market by means of online trading platforms can save a lot of time and money at the click of a button and possibly even compensate for the higher expenses for the green electricity levy," says Clemens Graf von Wedel, founder and owner of enPORTAL.
