- EEG surcharge to fall by around 11.5 percent over the next two years
- Info brochure ensures knowledge transfer and shows exemplary changes in electricity costs for SMEs
- New EEG values deposited in the online portal at enPORTAL
enPORTAL presents a new information brochure on the EEG levy for 2021 and 2022, which is aimed at energy buyers from medium-sized companies in the fields of industry, trade, clinics, services, commerce and crafts. This is the portal operator for digital energy procurement and cloud-based energy data management's response to the adoption of the new green electricity levy for the next two years, which was set early in the federal government's economic stimulus package. The brochure contains information on the historical change in the green electricity levy since 2011 and shows the future changes in electricity costs based on four exemplary customer sectors. It also highlights the advantages of digital procurement and potential savings. The ten-page PDF document can be requested free of charge via the enPORTAL website. Customers who use the B2B online portal for their digital energy data management were able to see at a glance how their electricity costs will change on the same day as the adoption.
New info brochure EEG levy 2021/2022 for energy buyers
With the adoption of the new economic stimulus package on 3 June 2020, the German government set the EEG levy for 2021 and 2022 ahead of schedule. While the EEG surcharge is officially announced by the Federal Network Agency on 15 October of each year, everything was different this year due to the Corona pandemic and the economic effects. Thus, it is already clear ahead of time: for 2021, companies can expect a green electricity levy of 6.500 ct./kWh, for the following year 2022, the value will be reduced to 6.000 ct./kWh. This means that the costs for the EEG levy will fall by 3.8 percent compared to this year and by a further 7.7 percent in 2022. For this reason, enPORTAL has already expanded its "Energy Costs" information series to include the brochure "EEG Surcharge 2021/2022". "Since the new values for the EEG levy are already known and we can track cost changes directly in the online portal, we have been able to update our info brochure quickly. Energy buyers benefit from our knowledge transfer and gain insight into current changes," says Clemens Graf von Wedel, Managing Director of enPORTAL. From now on, all interested parties can request and download the ten-page PDF document free of charge.
EEG levy falls by around 11.5 percent in two years
Medium-sized companies receive financial relief through the reduction of the green electricity levy. In its information brochure, enPORTAL shows how much this can amount to in concrete terms, using four customer industries as examples. For example, a food producer with an annual electricity consumption of around 5 million kilowatt hours will save around 12,800 euros in 2021 and around 25,000 euros in 2022 in EEG apportionment costs. For a plastics producer who needs about 30 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, savings totalling 226,800 euros for both years already add up. "The early adoption of the EEG surcharge provides planning security and cost control for small and medium-sized enterprises. However, energy buyers only have real influence on the pure energy price. Those who take advantage of the great competition in the energy market by means of online trading platforms can save a lot of time and money at the click of a mouse," says Clemens Graf von Wedel, founder and owner of enPORTAL.
New EEG values deposited in the online portal
The B2B online portal is used by well-known companies from the industrial, commercial, trade, services and healthcare sectors for digital electricity and gas procurement as well as for cloud-based energy data management. Customers of the portal operator can see the new EEG levy for 2021 and 2022 stored in the portal since it was officially passed. The price differences are visible individually for each offtake point or in total. This eliminates the need for manual evaluation of future energy costs using rigid Excel tables, which saves buyers a lot of time and work. "We can make changes to apportionments with a click in our portal. This means our customers always have an overview of their energy costs and get planning security without having to worry about updating them themselves," says Rainer Otto, founder and owner of enPORTAL.
