We would like to draw your attention to the Reporting obligation in accordance with the surcharge for special grid utilisation (Section 19 StromNEV) point out. The law stipulates that final consumers with an annual consumption of more than 1,000,000 kWh per point of delivery must be informed by no later than 31.03.2026 report the electricity purchased from the grid and consumed by themselves in 2025 to their respective grid operator.
For electricity volumes exceeding 1,000,000 kWh that are consumed by the company itself in 2025, it will then receive preferential treatment in accordance with Section 19 StromNEV in end consumer group B:
LV Group A*: 1.558 ct/kWh (net)
LV Group B*: 0.050 ct/kWh (net)
LV group C*: 0.025 ct/kWh (net)
Final consumer group A*
Electricity quantities of final consumers for the first 1,000,000 kWh per consumption point.
End consumer group B*
Final consumers whose annual consumption at a consumption point exceeds 1,000,000 kWh pay an additional maximum of 0.050 ct/kWh for electricity purchases in excess of 1,000,000 kWh.
End consumer group C*
End consumers who are assigned to the manufacturing industry, rail-bound transport or railway infrastructure and whose electricity costs exceeded four per cent of turnover in the previous financial year pay a maximum of 0.025 ct/kWh for electricity purchases in excess of 1,000,000 kWh.
Companies can have the end consumer group C* certified by an auditor or a certified accountant on the basis of the previous year. The auditor's certificate must be sent to the local grid operator by 31 March of the year.
Don't miss the deadline of 31 March 2026!
If you have not consumed all of the electricity purchased from the grid yourself, you must notify the grid operator of the quantities of electricity passed on to third parties in 2025. Most grid operators provide a notification form on their website for this purpose. The amount of electricity passed on to third parties is not eligible for any favourable surcharges. These quantities of electricity not consumed by the customer must be recorded using calibrated meters in accordance with Section 33 (2) MessEG.
Important note: It is strongly recommended that you submit this notification even if you have already been charged the reduced rate. If you do not submit the notification, there is a risk that the grid operator will retroactively demand the higher rate.
