Companies that do not use competition among suppliers pay 0.4 cents more for a kilowatt hour of electricity
Companies that do not take advantage of the great competition in the energy market give away an average of up to 0.43 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity and 0.31 cents for gas. This was the result of an enPORTAL study after evaluating 229 gas and 225 electricity tenders that ran via the web tool in the first half of 2015. The values are calculated from the difference between the highest and lowest pure energy price offered by the suppliers. This is the savings potential that energy buyers from industry can use. With enPORTAL, entrepreneurs can reach over 500 energy suppliers with a click. Around 1,500 customers are already benefiting from the simple, fast and transparent energy procurement. Until the end of September, energy buyers can terminate their supply contract in due time and tender their requirements online.
Use competition and tender efficiently
The German market is extensive with about 900 energy suppliers. Corporate energy buyers should therefore not only request known suppliers, but use the competition and request a quote for the procurement year from as many as possible. If this is done offline, it costs a lot of time and work. Plus, it only leads to the best energy price with great effort. A broad query works easiest with a web tool in which all data and processes are mapped online. The price effects that a lack of competition can have were calculated by enPORTAL on the basis of 229 gas and 225 electricity tenders in the period from 1 January to 30 June 2015. The average difference between the lowest and highest bid submitted was 0.43 cents for electricity and 0.31 cents for gas per kilowatt hour. Converted to a demand volume of 6,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, this results in savings of 25,800 euros. Since all processes can be mapped more quickly online, the commitment period with enPORTAL is two hours, so the mark-ups on the exchange price are lower - which, in addition to competition, leads to better energy prices. "We are amazed at how much a large competition actually makes a difference to the price. In our portal, all national and also numerous regional suppliers can be contacted simply by clicking - this is how our customers find the best supplier for energy," says Clemens Graf von Wedel, Managing Director of enPORTAL.
Terminate contract in due time and change energy provider
Companies from industry and commerce give away money every year because they either miss the cancellation deadline for electricity or gas supplies, do not switch suppliers or only procure energy when it fits back into the schedule. "Especially in the case of exchange-traded products such as electricity and gas, it is important to observe the prices on the EEX exchange and to start a tender quickly if conditions are favourable. The more volatile the markets, the greater the price differences between the suppliers - this potential can be exploited with us," says Rainer Otto, Managing Director of enPORTAL. For many buyers, the contract ends at the end of the year, so they can still terminate with a binding period of three months until 30 September. "Many buyers don't know that energy procurement online is much easier and faster. With our service, we reduce the effort to a minimum because, in addition to our online tool, an experienced enPORTAL customer advisor is on hand to help," says Clemens Graf von Wedel, Managing Director of enPORTAL. Those who tender their energy requirements online via enPORTAL can consequently reduce costs and save effort and time.
