The volume of energy managed via the energy platform increases to 35 terawatt hours of electricity and gas.
IT service provider enPORTAL is continuing to grow and has made significant progress in the areas of customer acquisition, further development of the platform and digital energy procurement. Its latest successes include a major contract from Kommunal-GmbH, a subsidiary of Bayerischer Gemeindetag: enPORTAL will handle public tenders for electricity and gas for 2026 and subsequent years via the digital procurement platform enPORTAL connect. For the first time, the entire process will be completely digital and free of media discontinuity. At the same time, portfolio management for energy-intensive companies has been significantly expanded. New functions and data views enable even more targeted energy controlling. The growing importance of digital energy platforms is also underlined by the continuous increase in energy volumes managed via enPORTAL. By the end of May 2025, the volume managed had reached 35 terawatt hours, and the trend is rising - a clear indicator of the increasing acceptance and relevance of digital procurement processes in the energy market.
Gaining new customers in the public sector
IT service provider enPORTAL is continuing its growth trajectory and has gained a major new customer from the public sector in Kommunal-GmbH, a subsidiary of Bayerischer Gemeindetag. At the beginning of the year, the company was awarded the contract to organise public tenders for electricity and gas for Bavarian municipalities for 2026 and subsequent years via the digital tendering platform. enPORTAL connect to be carried out. The municipal energy tenders are carried out completely digitally and without media discontinuity - from the transfer of the purchase point data to the final award decision. The platform enables comprehensive market analyses, digital tendering procedures in accordance with GWB, VgV, SektVO and UVgO as well as comprehensive energy data management. For public clients, this means greater efficiency, transparency and security in the procurement process.

Innovations in portfolio management
At the same time, the portfolio management for electricity and gas was comprehensively enhanced. Companies with high energy consumption now benefit from additional functions and extended data views for their energy data management. These include: the visual display of the procured monthly, quarterly and annual bands, the option to additionally display third-party band quantities and a detailed overview of the quantities purchased or sold at the respective prices. "We are delighted that more and more energy-intensive companies are relying on our platform to further develop their portfolio and energy data management efficiently, transparently and strategically. With the new functions, we are creating real added value for a demanding market environment," says Clemens Graf von Wedel, Managing Director of enPORTAL.
Growing energy volumes confirm market demand
The increasing relevance of digital energy platforms is also reflected in the continuously rising procurement volume: by the end of May 2025, the volume of energy managed via enPORTAL had risen to a total of 35 terawatt hours (TWh). This figure underlines the growing acceptance of the platform in the market and the trust that companies and public sector clients alike are placing in digital energy procurement. Electricity accounts for 60 per cent of the 35 TWh and gas for 40 per cent. While gas volumes have decreased over time, electricity volumes have increased. The portal operator started in 2008 with 0.8 TWh and has grown steadily on the market since then. "The digitalisation of energy tendering is a decisive lever for greater efficiency, transparency and sustainability - both in the public sector and in the private sector. The fact that we are now digitising 35 terawatt hours of energy shows that the market is ready: The market is ready - and so are we," says Clemens Graf von Wedel, Managing Director of enPORTAL.
