Heinzler Maschinenbau reduces its energy costs by 9,000 euros with enPORTAL
Industry: Mechanical engineering
Heinzler Maschinenbau GmbH is a European company with Bavarian roots with one site each in Bruckmühl and Hungary. The medium-sized family business specialises in the classic areas of mechanical engineering and overhead line construction as well as antenna technology.
Many years of experience and state-of-the-art machines
With its ultra-modern machinery, the family business covers all areas of classic mechanical engineering: the range extends from milling, turning, sheet metal production, tube laser cutting to lead casting. A particular strength lies in the production of prototypes. In 2016, Heinzler Maschinenbau needed about 1 million kilowatt hours of electricity and about 2.5 million kilowatt hours of gas per year to produce the parts in its state-of-the-art machinery. As in many medium-sized companies, the managing director himself is still responsible for energy procurement at Heinzler Maschinenbau GmbH. This is because there is a desire for self-determination and cost control. Nevertheless, Robert Heinzler was not fully satisfied with his manual energy procurement, as he describes: "Individual enquiries with energy suppliers were always very time-consuming and tedious." The managing director found that with individual enquiries to a handful of suppliers, he could not take advantage of the great competition in the energy market. He also lacked the feeling of having obtained a good energy price.
Using competition in the energy market
In July 2017, Robert Heinzler opted for the first online tender. The procurement process went as follows: At the click of a button, the 700 or so suppliers listed at the time learned about the request and submitted a price offer to enPORTAL if they were interested. After the end of the tender, all offers were automatically listed in a bidder's list, so that the managing director could see at a glance which supplier offered him the most favourable offer. The grid fees, charges, levies and taxes were also displayed. The binding period was two hours, so that risk surcharges could be minimised and prices closer to the exchange could be achieved. Robert Heinzler selected his preferred supplier with a click and concluded the legally secure energy supply contract online. The contract was then stored on the energy platform and can be viewed at any time, so that notice periods can no longer be missed.
Cost savings through efficient online processes
Robert Heinzler particularly appreciates the speed and simplicity of enPORTAL connect, which is rounded off with competent advice. What used to take several working days was done in just a few hours. In addition, savings of around 9,000 euros were achieved for electricity and gas in 2018. This is due on the one hand to the efficient online processes and on the other hand to the great competition on the energy marketplace.
"Success in energy purchasing is only possible with a strong network of verifiable data, market participants and experts - what counts in concrete terms: Keeping consumption data permanently up to date, using competition in the heterogeneous market and observing developments on the energy exchanges at all times. This is exactly what we offer with enPORTAL connect."

In search of more efficient energy purchasing, FRÄNKISCHE Rohrwerke Gebr. Kirchner GmbH & Co. KG decided to use enPORTAL. In April 2016, the internationally active production company from Königsberg launched an online tender via the web-based marketplace for the first time. Good purchasing timing, short response times and the great competition among suppliers led to an immense reduction in costs: the pure energy price for electricity was reduced by 30 percent for the 2017 delivery year. Purchases were made by mouse click in less than two hours.
Rehamed GmbH is one of the first customers. Since 2008, the company from the healthcare sector has already been using the enPORTAL connect service for the annual tendering of approx. 184,000 kWh of electricity. Rehamed offers physiotherapy, rehabilitation and health sports based in Stuttgart.
